On the 12th of February, Maria Eichlseder was presented with the SPIRIT award of WOMEN in SCIENCE in the category Senior Scientist in fundamental scientific research, honoring her work in the field of cryptography.
The award was created by the SPIRIT of Styria magazine to increase the visibility of women in science and research in Styria. In their latest issue, they present the four winners and the work they are passionate about – for Maria it’s her work on ASCON, a family of authenticated encryption and hashing algorithms designed to be lightweight and easy to implement. If you want to read more about it, check out the ASCON website. The other winners were Linda Waldherr (Med Uni Graz), Chiara Barretta (PCCL Leoben) and Dalial Freitak (Uni Graz).
Congratulations Maria!
We also applaud the other winners as well as everyone who was nominated.
